The theme for the coming year is "DEVELOPING THE READING CONNECTION".  We all make connections every day, but in so many different ways.  We, as educators, must work to find what works well for individual students so the love and effective use of reading is fully attained.  Together, we can all work to learn and grow as educators in making those connections.  Please bring a display or poster from your council promoting KRA and utilizing the theme, "Developing the Reading Connection".  These will be judged and prizes will be awarded on the day of the meeting.

Rolinda Smith has worked with Books-A-Million for councils to be able to purchase the current Bill Martin, Jr. Picture Book Award nominees at a discounted price  Councils which would like to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase the books should notify Rolinda.  Pay for the books before or at the Summer Leadership and Rolinda will then have the books for you at our meeting.  Please contact her in advance at treasurer@kansasread.org.

I am looking forward to welcoming you all to Manhattan as we continue the work of making KRA a strong and growing organization--working together to develop the reading connection!

Sincerely,
Deanna Burton
